My name is Megan and I love to paint!  I painted my first chair 10 years ago and haven't put my brush down since.

 

I teach art at a high school in Nebraska.  When co-workers saw the things I was painting in my free time I starting getting requests. Most of my business has come from word of mouth.  I wanted to expand and reach more customers so I started Swirls & Stripes.

 

I find most of the furniture I paint at garage sales.  My husband works with me and repairs the furniture before I sand and prime it.  He is the ultimate handy man and is the only reason we have been able to renovate our 1976 home completely on our own.  When I'm not painting a chair or knocking down a wall I'm spending time with my favorite person in the world, my two-year-old daughter Nola.  Read our blog to see updates on our renovation and raising a toddler.
